The short version
- No account. No ads. No analytics or tracking, in the app or on this website.
- Cloudy isn't available to download yet. This policy describes how the app is built to work at launch.
- Your API keys, chats and settings are stored on your Mac. We never receive them.
- When you use an AI feature, your message and a screenshot of your main display go straight from your Mac to the AI provider you picked, using your own key. With a local model, they stay on your Mac.
1. Who we are
Cloudy is made by an independent developer based in Taichung, Taiwan ("Cloudy", "we", "us"), who decides how the personal data described here is used. This policy covers the Cloudy Mac app and this website. Questions or requests: cloudyai.hq@gmail.com.
2. This website
The website uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, the company that hosts it may keep short-lived server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and reliability; those logs are governed by the host's own privacy policy. See our Cookie Policy.
3. Data the app keeps on your Mac
Cloudy stores the following only on your Mac, in your user account (mostly in ~/Library/Application Support/Cloudy):
- the API keys you enter, in files only your macOS account can read;
- your saved chats, the images you attach and your Scan and Answer history (including a picture of the scanned screen);
- your settings and custom instructions;
- the date your trial started and counters for the free plan's limits;
- the last copy of the app settings file described in section 7.
We do not receive any of this. You can delete it at any time by deleting chats in the app or removing that folder.
4. Data sent to the AI provider you choose
Cloudy works with an AI model you choose: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or a local model through Ollama. When you chat, use Scan and Answer, or ask Cloudy to do something on your Mac, it sends the following directly from your Mac to that provider, using your own API key:
- your message and your custom instructions;
- images you attach;
- with every chat message (typed or spoken) a screenshot of your main display, and with Scan and Answer a screenshot of the display under your pointer. Cloudy leaves its own windows out, but a screenshot can include anything else visible, so close or hide sensitive information first. While Cloudy does a task for you it takes a new screenshot after each step;
- earlier messages of the same conversation, so the model has context.
That data is handled by the provider under its own terms and privacy policy, not by us: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google. Note: Google's free Gemini API tier may use what you send to improve Google's products; paid tiers generally do not. Check each provider's current terms. With a local model through Ollama, this data stays on your Mac.
5. Mac permissions
Cloudy asks for Screen Recording (to see your screen when you use a feature) and Accessibility (to click and type when you ask it to, and for some hotkeys). It uses them only for those features. If you use Talk to Cloudy, it also asks for the Microphone and Speech Recognition. It listens only while you hold the talk shortcut or after you press the mic button, and your speech is turned into text on your Mac; the recording isn't sent to us or to the AI provider, only the resulting text is sent with your message. macOS may download Apple's on-device speech model the first time, from Apple.
6. Cloudy Pro
Cloudy Pro isn't on sale yet. Before it is, we will update this policy to explain what data buying and using Pro involve.
7. Updates and app settings
The app checks meetcloudy.com for updates about once a day. It also downloads a small settings file from meetcloudy.com when it starts and every few hours after that (for example the current free-plan limits and short announcements). These requests send no personal data beyond what any web request reveals: your IP address, and the app's name and version in the user agent. They carry no cookies, account or device identifiers, and we do not turn on any extra system profiling. They are subject to the same server logs described in section 2.
8. What we don't do
We don't sell or rent personal data, don't show ads, don't use analytics or crash-reporting services, and don't build profiles of you.
9. Keeping data
Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you. Everything on your Mac stays until you delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold, and to object to or limit how we use it. Since almost everything stays on your Mac, we hold very little; for anything we hold about you, email cloudyai.hq@gmail.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
Cloudy is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, use it with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, mention it in the changelog or the app.
13. Contact
Questions about these pages or your data: cloudyai.hq@gmail.com. We usually reply within a few days.
